Disney Channel’s original movie trilogy Zombies has been popular on the channel since its release in 2018.

TheZombiessaga of Zed (Milo Manheim) and Addison (Meg Donnelly) is clearly still a winner among fans, and what began as a combination of Zac Efron’sHigh School Musicaland a story of the undead has now evolved into a franchise that can compete with some of Disney’s biggest cinematic releases. After originally being a simple tale of zombies and humans, the world has now expanded to include more and more mythical creatures, with this latest entry bringing vampires into the mix. The synopsis of the new movie reads:

Do it like the zombies do

“In the first three “ZOMBIES” movies, Zed and Addison brought human and monsterkind together in their hometown of Seabrook. Now, a new adventure dawns for the duo when their summer road trip takes an unexpected detour, landing them in the middle of yet another monster rivalry: Daywalkers vs. Vampires. Tensions flare when Zed and Addison find themselves acting as camp counselors between the two opposing supernatural factions. With the help of Eliza and Willa, they must convince sworn enemies Nova and Victor to attempt to unite their warring worlds before an even greater threat endangers them all.”

Since debuting in 2018,Zombiesfound an audience that were immediately on board with the supernatural premise, kid-friendly music, and endearing story. While it is the kind of movie that critics can often abhor,Zombieshas consistently drawn in decent reviews.Zombies 4is no exception, although the reviews from both critics and audiences come with a caveat.

Characters From Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires

Naturally, when dealing withany movie set in a school, there are only so many years you can get away with having lead stars that are clearly not teens still playing school children. Previously, Manheim said that the first threeZombiemovies felt like they told a complete story, and that could be one reason whyZombies 4looks to broaden the franchise’s horizons with some new blood.

Zombieshas clearly managed to avoid the pitfalls of some made-for-streaming movies and is still bringing in those important audience volumes. Based on the franchise’s current position dominating the Disney+ charts, whether you’re team Zed, team Addison, or cheering for the newbies Nova and Victor, theZombiesworld is alive and kicking and doesn’t look like it’s returning to the crypt just yet.
