The actress also made cameos as Diana in two of the final DCEU movies,Shazam! Fury of the GodsandThe Flash, both of which bombed at the box office. At the end of the day, bringing in Gadot’s Wonder Woman would just burden the DCU with unwanted DCEU baggage.
A fresh start after the controversial DCEU is what Wonder Woman and most DC characters need. With David Corenswet replacing Henry Cavill as Superman and a new actor taking on Batman instead of Ben Affleck, it would be weird to keep Gadot as Wonder Woman. As the DCEU barely explored Diana’s Greek mythology connections, the new DC Universe could do a deep dive into Wonder Woman’s extensive lore from DC Comics, and bringing in a new actress asWonder Womanwould be the perfect way to cement that this is definitely a new era for the hero in live-action.
