Batman has been in a lot of video games, but theLEGOones are a different kind of fun. They’re not dark or serious. They’re bright, silly, and packed with action. These games mix classic LEGO building with superhero missions and they do it in a way that’s easy to enjoy, even if you don’t play games often. What makes the LEGO Batman series stand out is how each game changes things up. Some keep the focus small, with missions in Gotham City. Others go big and take you to space or let you play as the villains.

The best of the best in brick-based gaming!

That being said, not every game hits the mark the same way. Some feel a little too basic, while others offer way more to do and have smarter puzzles and better stories. That’s why it helps to look at all the main LEGO Batman games side by side. When you do, it’s clear which ones truly stand out.

4LEGO Batman: The Videogame

Classic Batman Action Where You Can Play the Villain

Lego Batman: The Videogame

The debut LEGO Batman title lets you swap between playing as Batman or Robin, each wearing special suits (like a magnetic suit or a gliding suit) to solve puzzles or reach hidden areas. You don’t just play as the heroes, you also take control of Gotham’s rogue gallery: Joker, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Riddler, and more.Playing on the villain’s sideadds variety and lots of unexpected fun. Everything is served up with wacky humor and a lighthearted storyline made just for this game, not taken from any movie or comic.

The game uses Danny Elfman’s Batman theme music to evoke classic Batman feel. Collecting studs unlocks costumes, vehicles, minikits, secret levels, and extras like the artifact room. Levels unlock Free Play mode so you can explore them again with other characters to reach hidden areas. Despite simplistic enemy AI, couch co-op with instant respawns makes it forgiving and accessible, especially for younger players or beginner audiences.

3LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

Go to Space and Battle Bigger Threats

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gothamditches the open world for a tighter, level-based structure. Instead of roaming a big city, you travel through space stations, alien worlds and themed stages. One mission might have you floating through zero gravity, while another might have you flying a spaceship in an arcade-style shooter. It keeps switching things up, which makes it hard to get bored. The character list is wild. Batman’s still front and center but you’ve also got Cyborg, Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, and even 1960s TV Batman with his own retro level.

Review: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a triumphant reinvention of the LEGO series, successfully adapting the entirety of the mainline films.

Visually, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is a step up. There are glowing planets, animated cutscenes and more voice acting than ever. Adam West even makes cameo appearances as himself. Some puzzles are clever some a little too simple, but the variety helps keep things fresh. The only issue is that menus can feel cluttered, and switching abilities mid-mission gets fiddly. Still, if you ever wanted to see Batman in space, and team him up with the entire DC roster, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is for you. It’s a bit chaotic, sure. But it’s also one of the most creative LEGO games out there.

2LEGO DC Super-Villains

Create Your Own Villain and Team Up with Other Villains

LEGO DC Super-Villains

The bad guys sometimes run the show in LEGO Batman: The Videogame, but inLEGO DC Super-Villains, they do completely. The Justice League is gone, and the world’s been taken over by a fake hero team. So, who steps up to fix things? Not Batman. Not Superman. You. A brand-new, custom-made villain. You build your own character from the ground up. Powers, outfit, even the way they walk. And this time, your villain isn’t just a background extra. They’re part of the cutscenes. They matter. It’s the most personal LEGO story yet.

That being said, you’re not alone, either. Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, Reverse Flash are all here. And they’re not just along for the ride; they get major screen time. The world is huge, with places like Gotham, Metropolis, Smallville, and more. And the missions mix exploration, puzzle-solving, and brawling. And with so many characters to unlock, you’re always discovering new ways to break the game in the best way. Combat finally gets a little deeper in the LEGO Batman series. Enemies block, combos matter, and your powers change how you approach fights. There are still plenty of laughs, but the action feels more focused.

1LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

Open-World Gotham and the Rise of the Justice League

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

In 2012, LEGO Batman 2 expanded into a full action‑adventure featuring Gotham City as an open‑world environment. It’s thefirst LEGO Batman game to include full voice acting, giving characters like Batman, Joker, Superman, and Wonder Woman personality and comedic dialogue. Instead of confined levels, you can explore Gotham freely, travelling between notable landmarks like Ace Chemicals, Arkham, and other districts. I think the coolest part is you can switch characters mid‑game, using their individual abilities, like Robin’s acrobat suit, Superman’s heat vision, and Batman’s hazard suit, to solve puzzles and access new areas.

The DC Super Heroes roster includes over fifty heroes and villains, many outside Gotham, though story levels often focus mainly on Batman, Robin, and Superman. While some may say the world was sometimes empty and the roster limited in story mode, I think this title transformed LEGO games into their modern era and elevated the formula to new heights.
