V Rising Armor Progression Complete Guide
V Rising - Equipment and Gear Level
In V Rising, not only do weapons account for the damage output of your character, but also the armor you’re wearing.Gear Levelis an important factor in PvE combat, as this dictates the damage you do and receive. Your character’s Gear Level is based on the equipment that you are currently wearing or wielding. These equipment are your armor, jewelry, and the weapon you are currently wielding. There are cosmetic armors that do not affect your Gear Level. Your cloak and bag also do not affect your Gear Level.
There are two rules that are generally followed by Gear Level, but it changes dynamically depending on the Gear Level difference between you and the enemy. If your Gear Level is higher than the enemy’s, you will deal an additional 1% damage while receiving 1% less damage per Gear Level difference. However, if your Gear Level is lower, you will deal 4% less damage while receiving 4% more damage per Gear Level difference. These numbers are a significant amount, so be mindful of your Gear Level when facing V Blood Carriers and regular enemies.

Gear Progression
The equipment in V Rising will mostly be crafted through crafting stations, although the beginner equipment will be made by hand. You will be able to obtain blueprints and recipes through various ways. You can purchase armor and weapon recipes in exchange for currency (Copper,Silver,Goldsun) fromVendorsscattered around Vardoran. You can also build structures, refinement stations, and crafting stations to upgrade your armor. Research desks and its upgraded variants also allow you to research recipes which costs papers, scrolls, or schematics, although it is RNG-based. Lastly, defeatingV Blood Carrierscould unlock recipes of armor, weapon, and jewelry depending on which boss you kill - which I covered in theV Rising - V Blood Carriers article.
Early on in the game, the armor you unlock will be basic - only providing you with more health and increasing yourGear Level. As you progress towards the mid-game, the armor progression will start to branch out. These armor sets will give you additional attributes such asIncreased Physical Power,Increased Movement Speed, and other buffs aside from the added Gear Level and HP. These armor sets can complement your combat playstyle, such as melee, range, or spellcasting. This allows you to focus on one playstyle or make a build with the different skills and blood types in V Rising.

Final Tips
I would strongly recommend taking advantage of theFloor Bonusfor the crafting stations (Simple Workbench,Tailoring Bench, etc.) and refinement stations (Furnace,Tannery, etc.) to consume less raw materials for making armor. you’re able to get the bonus by confining the crafting stations inside a room that has its specified flooring (Forge FlooringforFurnace, etc.), which will reduce its production cost by 25%.
Once you have upgraded your armor, do not disassemble your old armor through theDevourer. You’ll want to make use of your old armor by giving it to yourServantsso that they can raid areas requiring higher Gear Level. You’ll be needing their services for materials that are tedious for you to gather.

I would recommend you wear the armor that is appropriate for your playstyle and weapon set-up. If you’re focusing on melee, you might want to use an armor with aDamage Reductionattribute. For spellcasters, you might want to have attributes such asSpell LeechandSpell Cooldown Recovery Rate.
This wraps up our guide onArmor Progression in V Rising. I’ll be making a guide on all of the weapons in V Rising, including all of the movesets and how to unlock them. If you’re waiting for V Rising’s PlayStation 5 release on June 11, make sure to read up on the guides to be ready for it!
