Abbott ElementarystarTyler James Williamshas won his first Golden Globe.

Williams plays beloved substitute-turned-full time teacher Gregory Eddie on the ABC sitcom, and his performance earned the actor a golden statuette for Best Supporting Actor in a TV series. The actor used his sweet acceptance speech to call attention to the untold stories of real-life public school teachers like Greg and his colleagues, who are perpetually overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated.

“I truly, truly appreciate this, and I pray that this is a win for Gregory Eddie,“an emotional Williams began. “For his story, and for stories like his, that we may understand that his story is just as important as all of the other stories that have to be told out here. Thank you so much for this.”
