Starfield Gains New Record for Most New Game Pass Subs on Launch
The Action-RPG Starfield gains a new milestone now surpassing 11 million players since launch. Another big achievement is becoming the game with the most new subscriptions for Game Pass at release. The news broke with Microsoft’s financial conference call for investors and analysts for the first quarter of the fiscal year of 2024. CEO Satya Nadella and CFO Amy Hood shared the performance for Xbox.
Also during the call, Nadella spoke about the acquisition being finalised for Activision Blizzard King and is “delighted” about “bringing great games to players”. The acquisition brings along with it a “13 billion-dollar-plus” set of franchises includingDiablo, Warcraft,Elder Scrolls, Halo, Candy Crush and Gears of War.
Hood also shared the news that the final results are rather promising gaining a 9% year-on-year increase which is “better than expected” mostly due to the “Starfield launch”.

We released Starfield this quarter to broad acclaim. More than 11 million people have played the game to date. Nearly half of hours played have been on PC, and on launch day, we set a record for the most Game Pass subscriptions added on a single day ever.

It was only last month that Bethesda shared Starfield has gained 10 million players, another million players have since travelled theStar Systems.
In A Galaxy Not So Far Far Away
Starfield has been Bethesda’s first new IP in over a decade, launching players into space and travelling across galaxies. The game combines first-person shooter with space exploration and spacecraft building. The next major RPG is The Elder Scrolls VI which still remains rather mysterious even five years on from its firstunveiling at E3 2018. But it might not be until 2026 when the game launches. There is also the possibility it may be a PC and Xbox console exclusive but that still remains to be confirmed.
Game Pass this year seems to be really making waves, but a healthy continuous range of games will be needed to keep its momentum. Day One releases are also key but Starfield seems to have made major sales even without the subscription service as reported byCircana media company last week.
