Last month, directorJustin Linannounced that the second trailer for his highly-anticipated sci-fi adventureStar Trek Beyondwill debut during a specialfan eventat the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood, California. The event took place tonight, with the filmmaker joined by several cast members such asChris PineandZachary Quintoto unveil this new footage, which we have for you below, along with a new poster. The fan event is part of the studio’s ongoing efforts to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of theStar Trekfranchise, which launched with the original TV series back in 1966.
Star Trek Beyond, the highly anticipated next installment inParamount’s globally popularStar Trek franchise, created byGene Roddenberryand reintroduced byJ.J. Abramsin 2009, returns with directorJustin Lin(The Fast and the Furiousfranchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of theU.S.S. Enterpriseand her intrepid crew. InStar Trek Beyond, the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

The second trailer’s arrival comes six months after the first trailer debuted back in December. We haven’t seen any footage from this sci-fi sequel since then, which has only made anticipation forStar Trek Beyondgrow, with the sequel shaping up to be one of this summer’s biggest movies. 2009’sStar Trektook in $257.7 million at the domestic box office and $385.6 million worldwide, with the 2013 follow-upStar Trek Into Darknesstaking in $228.7 million domestically and $467.3 million worldwide. We’ll have to wait and see ifStar Trek Beyondcan out-gross its predecessors this summer.
