Soft & Quiet: The Plot

The film will follow a school teacher and a group of people she brings together. The plot synopsis hints that it may be some type ofpolitical or spiritual meetingand that after the altercation occurs, something horrible happens.

Playing out in real time, Soft & Quiet is a runaway train that follows a single afternoon in the life of an elementary school teacher, Emily, who organizes an inaugural club meeting of like-minded women. When they all decide to move the meeting to Emily’s house to keep the wine flowing, they stop at the local store to pick up refreshments. At the store, an altercation breaks out between a woman from Emily’s past and the group, leading to a volatile chain of events.

The trailer gives more clues as to what audiences can expect. Emily gives subtle glances at people of color, which could be interpreted in a number of ways. All the women shown in the teacher’s club are white-passing, which also could hint at what the group’s agenda is.

Emily speaks of a magazine and how they must be careful with what they put in it, not wanting their main ideas to be front and center. It sounds like the goal is to create a propaganda magazine of sorts, but they don’t want people to know that that’s what it is.

A blood-curdling scream breaks the trailer into two distinct parts. After the scream, the women are frantic, trying to clean up a red liquid, and seem to be turning on each other. There’s no question that something has gone wrong. It’s only a matter of time before all is revealed.
