AsOne PieceLive-Action’s next season is in the works, the one performance that the fans have been eagerly waiting for is that of Emily Rudd, the actor who played the role of Nami, the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates. As the major part of the first season focused on her because of the Arlong Park arc, fans got to witness Rudd’s exceptional acting skills, and now they are waiting for more.

However, the character of Nami inOne Piecelive-action was appreciated by fans not only because of Rudd but also because of some slight modifications that the creators did to her character to make things look more realistic. For example, they had Rudd break into things like the burglar Nami was. These things surely added to the better portrayal of the character.
Another thing that paid off well was making a slight change in the origin story of Rudd’s Nami. This slight change was not only appreciated by fans, but it also brought out a true emotional aspect of Nami’s character in the live-action series which made it look real, and although it may be a slight change it surely worked.

The Origin Story of Emily Rudd’s Nami inOne Piece
Throughout the entire series, Nami is one of the most cherished and beloved characters.Emily Rudd’scharacter is not only one of the most intelligent Straw Hats but also the ship’s navigator. Nami, an Oykot Kingdom war orphan, was born into an unknown family. Bell-mère, a female Marine, and Nokijo found her when she was a newborn.
The trio decided to start a family and share their early years in Cocoyasi Village. It was during Arlong’s invasion of their village that her difficult story began. He abducted Nami and murdered Bell-mère. Nami was presented with an offer by Arlong regarding the liberation of her village, wherein the villagers’ lives would be exchanged for a specific quantity of berries.

With the hope of living a happy life after liberating the village, Nami started putting a lot of effort into buying Cocoyashi from Arlong. She joined pirates and stole treasure, which she later hid in the orchard, all while creating maps for Arlong over the next eight years. However, there was a slight change in this origin story in theOne Piecelive-action.

Nami’s Origin Story Was a Little Different inOne PieceLive-Action
Although Nami’s backstory and her battle to free her village from the Arlong Pirates are heartwarming, the live-actionOne Pieceversion of these events does not treat the residents of Nami’s village with the same kindness.
The inhabitants of Nami’s village in theOne Pieceanime are aware that her acts as a pirate and burglar are done for their benefit, and they have no malice towards her. Since these characters in the live-action adaptation are blind to her arrangement with Arlong, they have good reason to be resentful of her.

But when they learn the truth, their feelings of guilt towards Rudd’s Nami create a very moving scene that fans adore and further develops Rudd’s character. This was truly a gamble played by Netflix, which paid off well as this scene became one of the most emotional scenes of the entire series.
