Capcom’sMega Man X2action-platformer is split into 10 stages, the first being a tutorial or introduction stage, 8 main stages and then the final stage. Any of the 8 main stages can be done in any order you choose. Below is a guide for the Central Computer stage and it’s boss, Magna Centipede. I will explain how to defeat each enemy and boss in this guide.
Mega Man X2: Central Computer Stage & Magna Centipede Guide
In this stage players will come face to face with the Mangna Centipede boss, but before they reach the boss they will come up against a few enemies. Enemies will include Barrier Attackers, Chop Register mini-boss, Raider Killer and Barite Lastar. I will explain what strategies to use in defeating each in this step-by-step guide.
Central Computer Stage
The first section of this stage is filled withBarrier Attackersand security lights. Avoiding the security lights will unlock theCovert Ops trophy/achievementfor players. Run right past all the Barrier Attackers and security lights while watching out for the extra environmental hazards.
There will be several cubes that will fall into place, blocking players from advancing. Players should pay attention to where they fall to avoid death by compression and release a charge Mega Buster shot at the pink cubes.
Once players cross the four stacked cubes, jump into the air and release charged Speed Burner. This will give enough momentum to reach the wall, allowing players to climb it to reach the Sub Tank. Drop down and head right to engage the mini boss,Chop Register. Chop Register is a sword that will flail around until it attempts to stab or slash the player. Shoot the hilt of the sword with the Mega Buster to damage it, if shot at the blade it will reflect/block the shot.
Proceed along and drop down the hole in front of you. Move quickly dashing pass the falling globs that become part of the floor. At the end of the hallway, climb up the wall to reach the second mini boss,Raidar Killer. The mini-boss can easily be defeated by using Speed Burner. He will usually follow up with a projectile blast, which can be jumped over and followed up with another Speed Burner. If players were scanned during the run to Raider Killer, he will have extra attacks.
After defeating Raider Killer, quickly dash throughout the passageway. The bridges will collapse, security blocks will fall from the ceiling and shoot the player. Thisdoes notnull the Covert Ops run. At the end of the hall will be the boss gate for this stage.
Covert Ops Trophy/Achievement
To unlock theCovert Ops Trophy/Achievement, players will have to complete the Central Computer Stage from beginning to end including defeating the boss in 1 attempt.
Run past the first light, avoid jumping and dashing. This will lead players to a raised lip with another light moving in a fixed straight path. Wait for it to start heading back and use the safe spot in the middle to wait for it to move back yet again. Walk or dash to safety just before the next light. Again use the safe spot in the middle to wait out the light and advance when the coast is clear.
While standing on the raise platform dash jump to the higher platform. Use the safe spot to wait until it is clear to climb onto the nearby wall. Slide down it and air dash to the right. Players can use the charged version of Speed Burner to climb the lone grey block to reach the Heart Tank.
After the first mini boss, jump onto the right wall and slide towards to the right which will allow you to slide down the far right wall. Dash to the left, cling on the far right wall as you slide down it. Wait for the top light to move upwards, jump off the top right corner, then proceed to air dash to the left wall at the lowest point of the jump. attempt to avoid the top light and lower light. Hold the left button to minimize the knockback from hitting theBarite Lastar.
Proceed through the level as normal and defeat Magna Centipede to obtain the trophy.
Boss: Magna Centipede
Magna Centipedehas the power to fade and reappear throughout the boss room. He can use his tail to hurt the player by slashing them or drawing the player closer to his vicinity. Using his weakness the Silk Shot attack, this will remove his tail and limit his possible attacks.
Magna Centipede will now teleport around the room and throw shurikens. Continue using Silk Shot to quickly lower his health. If the boss is hanging from the ceiling, try shooting Silk Shot on the ground to have it break off into 4 pieces, the deflection will allow the players to injure him.
Defeating Magna Centipede will grant players the Magnet Mine, which is the weakness of Crystal Snail in the Energen Crystal stage so head there next.
