Lance Reddick is our new Albert Wesker, and the actor couldn’t be more excited to take on the iconicResident Evilrole. Netflix unveiled a slew of big announcements as a part of the streamer’s Geeked Week event. This included a major update on Netflix’s live-actionResident Evilseries, with all of the leading cast members being revealed. An image of the cast all together was also released by the streamer.

Straight from Netflix, theResident Evilseries will star Reddick asAlbert Wesker, perhaps the most well-known of all of the series' villains. The character has been a very important part of the series since the original video game, and in subsequent installments, he grew to become more and more powerful after intentionally injecting himself with Umbrella-created viruses. His feud with Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield inspired years' worth of storylines in the video games as well as Paul W. S. Anderson’s live-action movies.

Knowing he’s stepping into such a big role,Lance Reddickcouldn’t help but express his excitement online. Posting an image of himself alongside his fellow cast members, the actor said on Twitter: “I’m so excited to finally announce this. Get ready to enter New Raccoon City with the cast of the new live-actionResident Evilseries: I’ll be playing Albert Wesker!”

The other names listed for theResident Evilcast are Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nunez. Details on their characters haven’t been revealed. The plot takes place over two separate timelines, with the first following 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker moving toNew Raccoon City, where they come to realize that their father may be concealing dark secrets that could destroy the world. Another timeline set over a decade in the future follows an older Jade navigating through life in a post-apocalyptic world.

The eight-episode, hourlong series was written by showrunner Andrew Dabb. Mary Leah Sutton also serves as a writer and executive producer. Bronwen Hughes executive produces and serves as director of the first two episodes. The newResident Evilseries comes fromConstantin Film, the company behind the successful movie series. Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben of Constantin Film will also executive produce with Constantin Film CEO, Martin Moszkowicz producing.

Netflix has otherResident Evilcontent in the works. There’s also a CG anime series,Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, that’s headed to the streamer. It will followResident Evil 2protagonists, Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy. A part of the video game universe, the series is set between the events ofResident Evil 4andResident Evil 5. It will be released on Netflix sometime this year.

A newResident Evillive-action movie, separate from the Netflix series with Reddick, is also in development. CalledResident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, the movie is written and directed by Johannes Roberts and is intended to be a more faithful recreation of the original two video games. Its cast includes, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill, Kaya Scodelario as Claire, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, and Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy. Tom Hopper plays Wesker in this incarnation, as it has no connection to the Netflix series. This news came to us fromLance Reddick.
