Kung Fu PandastarJack Blackas revealed that his bandTenacious Dwill craft a new song for the upcoming fourth outing in the animated martial arts comedy franchise. Speaking withThe Hollywood Reporter, Black discussed his massive musical hit Peaches from this year’sThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, revealing that Tenacious D, which mainly consists of members Jack Black and Kyle Gass, have been asked to do a new song forKung Fu Panda 4.
“We’ve been working on a couple of things. I got a new Kung Fu Panda coming out next year, and they asked if we would do a song for the credits.”
Tenacious D released their fourth albumPost-Apocalyptoback in 2018, with the duo having been together since as far back as 1994. Together, they have featured in several movies includingBio-Dome, The Cable Guy, Shallow Hal, Year One, and their own movieTenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, which was released in 2006.
As forKung Fu Panda 4, Black recentlyoffered some insight into the sequel’s plot. The fourth outing will pick up with Black’s character, the panda Po, as he readies himself to become the new spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace. His new role requires him to find the next Dragon Warrior, with Po settling on Zhen, a fox who has concerns about being trained by Po.
A new villain will also emerge, The Chameleon, who Black as called “totally scary and totally unfair” and who can bring back villains from theKung Fu Pandapast.

Jack Black recently wowed audiences with another animated outing,The Super Mario Bros. Movie, in which he voices the villainous Bowser. For the video game adaptation, Black wrote the balladPeaches, which finds Bowser professing his love for Anya Taylor-Joy’s Princess Peach.Peacheshas since become a massive viral hit, becoming popular on TikTok, finding itself at #61 on the iTunes streaming chart, peaking at #56 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and ranking fourth on the top trends list on YouTube for this year.
Jack Black has revealed what it’s been like to get such a big hit under his belt, especially when he’s been touring as Tenacious D for so many years.
“It was a real thrill to see it, to get into the ears and minds of people all around the world. I’d never really had that kind of an impact before in that space. I’m in a band and we’ve had lots of fun touring the world and playing music for years, but it hits different when you’ve got a bona fide hit that’s gone viral like that. And it was crazy. Everywhere I looked on social media, there was “Peaches” and I was like, “Hey, that’s me.” There’s a little burst of pride when you are part of the zeitgeist, as they like to say.”
