The Marvel star realized she needed to address this problem head-on as she faced the harsh reality of deepfakes. The emerging actress recently let it all out when she appeared as a guest onThe SqueezeYouTube podcast.
Xochitl Gomez Courageously Tackles the Ugly Reality Of AI
Xochitl Gomezrecently shared her painful experience of being the target of deepfake artificial intelligence prnography. The 17-year-old actress was confused about how to deal with fictitious prnographic edits of herself that were widely shared online. Thanks to technological advancements, people can now use the faces of others to create audio-visual content.
Her mother helped her, and they even looked into several options to remove it from the internet. The actress vented it all during her recent visit to Taylor Lautner and his wife’s YouTube podcast,The Squeeze.

“I looked up on Twitter, and one of those videos appeared and I was like ‘what is this?’ It turns out my mother actually like had full battles and she had told my agents that we need to take this down.. She knew this was happening and I didn’t know at all.”
Gomez and her mother worked hard to remove the videos, even though she was well aware that it was all artificial intelligence and that someone was attempting to harm her reputation. Despite her efforts, she stated that some videos remain online. The California-born actress stated:

“It wasn’t a good look for me…This is nothing to do with me, and it’s here on with my face.”
TheBoob Sweatactress also talked about how learning about the harsh reality made her feel “uncomfortable”. After making a hard effort to understand it, she even asked herself why it was happening to her.

Rising Talent Xochitl Gomez Relies on Her Friends to Face Deepfake Issues
Even though Xochitl Gomez has achieved a great deal of success at this young age due to her quick ascent to fame, there is one particular threat that could dash her hopes: deepfakes. But she has found support in a circle of friends who are also a safe haven for her when she needs a break from the threat of deepfakes. She revealed onThe Squeezepodcast:
“It just made me weird it out and I didn’t like it…but to me I don’t think about that cuz there’s nothing good comes thinking about it. I don’t give it a light a day cuz if I do I know my day is like weirded out and I’m just going to sit weird… I put my phone down I figure out something to do for me cuz that weirded me out and now I got to feel a letter better… feel little refreshed. I like do some skin care, I like going out with my friends; something that will make me forget what I just saw.”

For the unversed, deepfakes is a term used to describe images and videos that have been artificially created through AI and have taken the digital world by storm. These highly realistic fabrications can make it appear that someone said or did something they never did.
Unfortunately, Gomez has become a victim of this new threat, which has the potential to harm one’s reputation and mental health. Rather than succumbing to the fear and anxiety that deepfakes can cause, the young actress has found empowerment through her friends in raising awareness about this digital threat.
On the work front, she wonDancing with the Starsseason 32 last year. Next, she will be seen as Natalie inUrsa Major.
