There’s a fake-out ending inDragon’s Dogma 2, so you’ll need to take some extra steps to continue playing and get the true ending.

How to Get the True Ending in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Your opportunity to get the true ending in Dragon’s Dogma 2 happens just before the final battle with the dragon. Afterdefeating the False Sovranin the “final” quest of the game,Legacy, you’llride on the dragon’s backto the final battlefield. It’s not a cutscene, though, and you have full control over your character while the dragon delivers a suspiciously long monologue about breaking the cycle.
To get the true ending, make your way to the center of the dragon’s back. You’ll notice that your controller willstart to vibrateand your character’s chest willstart to glow. Climb down to thedragon’s heart. While clinging to the dragon’s chest, open your inventory and use theEmpowered Godsbane Blade. Your character will pull it out and you’ll be prompted touse it on yourself. Stab yourself with the sword to unlock the true ending.

This will plunge both you and the dragon into the sea, breaking the cycleof the dragon and the Arisen. You’ll end up in an apocalyptic version of the open world called theUnmoored World, and several more main story quests await you from this point on. Your first step will be to reunite with your lostMain Pawn, and the story will continue from there.
What to Do if You Miss the Dragon’s Dogma 2 True Ending
If you miss the true ending and go through with the dragon boss fight like normal, you’ll end up in afake-out credits sequence in the grand hall ofVernworth Castle. you’re able to’t skip these credits, and you’re free to walk around and take in the sights now that you’re the true ruler of the kingdom.
If you want to get the true ending, however, you don’t need to play the entire game again. There’s a way toreset to right before the final fight. To do so, seek out theghostly hooded figuresitting near the throne. Speaking to him the first time will only get you some cryptic dialogue, so you’ll need to find him a second time nearby.
If youkeep speaking to the hooded figure, you’ll eventually be warped right back to the dragon’s back before the final boss battle, giving you the chance to usethe Empowered Godsbane Bladeto get the true ending.
