The final boss of Act 1 inPath of Exile 2, Geonor, The Putrid Wolf is easily the most difficult fight you’ll have up until this point. You can be swarmed by mobs or overwhelmed by some of thesmaller bosses, but they don’t prepare you for what Geonor has to offer.
While his first phase is a bit of a snooze, his second transformation phase offers a lot of interesting new mechanics, most of which you really need to pay attention to. He’s far from a push over, although once you get the timing down with movement, you’ll be able to overcome his snarling bite in no time.

Boss Skills Phase 1
Boss Skills Phase 2
In the first phase, Geonor is an aggressive opponent who is always coming forward and swinging his blade. But, despite his grandeur, all he can really do is a couple of attacks and transform into a wolf, one that is more bark than bite. It’s his second form that can cause some trouble.
After about 50% HP, Geonor will talk to his mistress, asking her to unleash the beast trapping the cage. She does not comply and instead runs away with it. This enrages Geonor and starts the second phase where he is permanently in wolf form, this time with his blade, and performs significantly more challenging attacks.

Geonor becomes a lot more erratic with his sword swings, sometimes swinging in a 180 motion at random, which can deal a surprising amount of damage. The biggest challenge with the second phase, though, is avoiding all his ice attacks. While you can get hit with his normal sword swings, getting hit with any of his ice-based attacks will increase your ice accumulation, and eventually it will freeze you. So you won’t be able to tank everything.
As for the fog gimmick, the adds are the most annoying part of this part. They can get in your way and chip away at your health if you don’t have good crowd control. As for Geonor, listen to his voice, and after he finishes his sentence, side step as a second later he will rush across the arena. Timing is everything, and the same can be said about the teleport attack in which, if you don’t immediately move out of the red circle, you will get hit with a staggering amount of damage.
