Elder Scrolls Online Firesong DLC Adds New Deck the Druid King
The newFiresong DLCwhich drops next month will be adding a further Patron to the in-game card game Tales of Tribute called the Druid King. This new deck sets to shake things up by summoning a powerful Chimera by using combos and a new mechanic. Each deck inTales of Tributehas its strengths, and the Druid’s is through its nature magic.
The Druid King
So how exactly do you acquire the Druid King deck? Like many decks in the Tales of Tribute mini-game, you can find fragments around the High Isle chapter. This means exploring Delves, taking part in Volcanic Vents and other activities. The inspiration behind his deck of cards is from the “joy of hitting big combos” according to Senior Systems Designer for Tribute, Irenio Calmon-Huang. Integrating a new deck of cards into the already established ones was no easy task, but it looks like the devs have welcomed a new challenging one with its own strategies.
Summoning a great Chimera and being able to cycle cards out from the Tavern (cards placed in the middle of the table) are just a couple of ways the Druid King will influence the game. There is also a new mechanic called ‘While in Play’. This new mechanic is similar to the combos that are in effect, but instead focuses on the “actions players perform”.

For example the Stonelore Rockseeker gives players 1 Coin whenever an agent card is played or activated. This sounds like it’s going to wreak havoc with those who are using agents such as the Oathman in the Hlaalu deck to gain gold or acquire a card.
The aim of the game of Tribute is to build to Coin to purchase cards and to build Power, the Druid King does both. This strategy starts off slow but once it catches up to you, there will be hell to pay in a single turn. This could turn the whole game around if your opponent has been quietly saving them for the opportune move. Where its real power lies, is in the higher-level cards and combos.

The Chimera
One of the fun attributes of Tribute is that you can pair different decks together in order to play at their different strengths. If you use for example the Duke of Crows and Red Eagle together, it will help narrow down your Draw Pile and build up more combos. With the ‘While in Play’ is happening, you can ensure the effects last a bit longer by having an agent to guard you. According to Calmon-Huang having your “druids and spirits” kept alive could prove “miserable” for your opponent as they’ll need to spend extra resources to get rid of them.
If you’re itching to try out the new deck you can check out the PTS which is now live for Update 36.
