‘Dune: Part Two’ Has Already Missed Out on One Oscar

While many are expectingPart Twoto match, or even exceedDune’s six wins at the 2022 Academy Awards, it is already fighting an uphill battle. Hans Zimmer’s score for the sequel is ineligible for submission due to a controversial rule from The Academy. The rule states that Zimmer’s score contains too much sampling from the original film and, as a result, does not qualify as an original piece of music.

‘Dune’ Director Explains The One Thing He Has Banned From His Movie Sets

‘Dune’ director Denis Villeneuve looks like a nice guy. Just don’t bring one of these into one of his sets.

While Denis Villeneuve fought back ardently against the ruling,Zimmer is more focused on the music’s effect,as he understands where The Academy is coming from. “Dune: Part OneandDune: Part Twoare one story, so it would make no sense for me to go and change the theme for the characters,” the beloved composer said. The legendary composer is expected to return for the thirdDuneinstallment, tentatively subtitledMessiah, which is currently being worked on by Villeneuve.
