Bungie today revealed their plans for the next year of Destiny 2, which includes The Edge of Fate and Renegades expansions.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape may have ended the Light & Darkness saga, but Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate will open a whole new saga. Bungie today revealed the Year of Prophecy, which includes all of their story and content plans for Destiny 2 over the new years. This includes the introduction of two new expansions, core game updates, and other major updates that’ll expand this new saga. It all kicks-off on July 15 when Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Review: Destiny 2: The Final Shape
Was Bungie able to shape Destiny 2: The Final Shape into a meaningful finale or has this 10-year journey been a waste of time?
‘Are we bound by fate?’
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate reintroduces the Nine, a collection of powerful and mysterious beings that predate the Traveler and have been lurking in the shadows for years. The story of this expansion will propel players into a new multi-year saga. It all begins on Kepler, the newest destination players will explore in the expansion. Abundant in dark matter energy, the planet powers one of the Guardian’s newest abilities: form changing. You’ll now be able to squeeze into tight spaces, jump and dash across the terrain, and turn into a ball of energy. As always, the expansion comes with new enemies, weapons, and gear.
The arrival of the expansion includes core game updates available to all Destiny players. The introduction of the Portal will streamline the activity selection screen, making it easier to choose the content that’s tailored to their playstyle. Players will also be able to tailor activities to match their gameplay through fifty brand-new modifiers. As always with new expansions, players can expect the armor and gear system to evolve, giving them new ways to build their Guardian.

A galaxy far, far away
Perhaps the most surprising announcement today revolved around the second expansion. Destiny 2: Renegades won’t just continue the story of the Fate Saga, but it will also be heavily inspired by Star Wars. This expansion will draw upon themes and elements from the beloved series, including lightsabers. The full reveal of Renegades will take place on September 9.
“With each of our Fate Saga Expansions, we’re looking to break from our past formulas and deliver something truly unique, andRenegadesis no exception,” said Justin Truman,DestinyVice President. “It’s aDestinystory at heart, but with aStar Wars-inspired take that’s been a dream for us to explore.”
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate launches July 15 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Destiny 2: Renegades is scheduled to launch on December 2 on the same platforms. The Rite of Nine event, which serves as a prologue for The Edge of Fate, is available to play now in Destiny 2.
