The Future of Baldur’s Gate
Larian Studios’Baldur’s Gate 3was the most awarded game of 2023, and many players are wondering when we’ll hear more about the franchise and who will take over now that Larian has stepped away. It seems that some answers may be coming soon.
According to Dan Ayoub, Senior Vice President of Digital Gaming at Hasbro, the company will soon share hints about its plans. Speaking during the Game Developers Conference, Ayoub stated:

“We are working on the planning and what we will do with Baldur’s Gate,” adding that multiple studios are interested in the franchise. “In fact, in the near future, we will have something related that we can talk about.”
The project Ayoub is referring to could be anything, but the possibility of Baldur’s Gate 4 is inevitably part of the discussion.

“It’s an inevitable request. I mean, there’s no rush, right? That’s the thing—we’re going to approach this carefully. We have many plans and different ways to handle it,” Ayoub explained, reiterating that discussions about the franchise will begin soon. The high bar set by Larian serves as a strong incentive for developers to try and surpass Baldur’s Gate 3’s success.
Hasbro’s Billion-Dollar Investment
Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast are investing $1 billion into their four internal studios in an effort to replicate the commercial and critical success achieved by Larian. However, the first step will be finding a developer willing to take on the challenge.
Meanwhile, Larian has announced that it is working on two new games, one of which is rumored to be a new Divinity title.
