Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment today dropped the first look at gameplay and release date for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Players will be able to explore the majestic world of Pandora on December 7 when Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora lands on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Amazon Luna. Developed by Massive Entertainment, Frontiers of Pandora allows players to take control of a Na’vi abducted by the RDA as a child. Having awoken years later, you must reconnect with your heritage and eliminate the threat the RDA poses to Pandora.

Built in collaboration with James Cameron’s production company Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a standalone adventure set in a never-before-seen area of Pandora: the Western Frontier. You’ll build your own Na’vi with options that include body types, voices, and body paint.

In combat, you’ll combine your strength as a Na’vi with your knowledge of humans to create unique gameplay opportunities. Played from a first-person perspective, you’ll get access to human weapons like an assault rifle or shotgun alongside Na’vi weaponry like a bow and spearthrower. You’ll use these tools to push back against the RDA, including dismantling their bases and allowing nature to reclaim them. You’ll also be able to take to the skies on your very Ikran to soar across the Western Frontier and participate in aerial combat.

Unlike most other recent Ubisoft titles, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been exclusively developer for current-gen consoles and PC to deliver stunning detail, rendering, geometric density, audio, and quick load times. The game will launch with accessibility options that include control remapping, subtitles, and color-blind modes. The game can be played in either single player or two-player online co-op.

Avatar: Frontiers lands December 7 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Amazon Luna. The game will be available in Standard, Collector’s Ultimate, and Gold editions. Pre-ordering will net you a character cosmetic set and weapon skin. In addition to that, PlayStation players get the free cosmetic Aranahe Warrior Pack. Ubisoft+ subscibers on PC, Xbox, and Amazon Luna can play the game on day one at no additional charge.
