Apple continues to make moves to land international properties, with the latest an Israeli drama series calledLosing Alice.
Varietyhas the report on Friday. The psychological thriller is distributed in Israel by Dori Media Productions in association with HOT, where the current eight episode season is currently airing. Once it arrives onApple TV+at some point later this year,Losing Alicewill be available globally.
Interestingly,Losing Aliceapparently utilizes flashbacks and flash-forwards to take the viewer through Alice’s conscious and subconscious mind throughout the series.
The series hails from creator Sigal Avin, who served as director in addition to writing. It follows Alice (Ayelet Zurer), a 48 year old film director who feels irrelevant since raising her family. After a brief encounter on the train, she becomes obsessed with 24 year old screenwriter, femme-fatale, Sophie (Lihi Kornowski), and eventually surrenders her moral integrity in order to achieve power, relevance and success. The series uses flashbacks and flash-forwards to take viewers through the conscious and subconscious parts of Alice’s mind.
It will be interesting to see how that plays out in action.
This is actually the second Israeli-based TV co-production that Apple TV+ has landed. Earlier this month we reported that Apple TV+ landed theespionage thriller calledTehran. And then there isthe upcoming seriesSuspicion, which will star Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and is based on the Israeli seriesFalse Flag.
There are other international properties in the works for Apple TV+, includingShantaramstarring Charlie Hunnam(Sons of Anarchy),Pachinkobased on the novel written by Min Jin Lee, andSlow Horsesstarring Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour).
