In the dark and grim world of the God Eater universe comesCode Vein, one of 2019’s standout titles. It may be a little on the rough-side, but this Action-RPG was exactly what players needed while they waited for the next FromSoftware title. Originally dubbed as the anime Dark Souls beforeThe First Berseker: Khazanwas released earlier this year, this Soulslike that had a lot of heart and style, and it looks like it’s finally getting a sequel.
At the Summer Game Fest 2025, one of the first exciting announcements was Code Vein II. This came as a huge surprise because there was no word that Bandai Namco was working on another game in the franchise, but considering how popular games the genre has gotten since Elden Ring, a sequel only seemed like a matter of time.

Bandai Namco’s Elden Ring will grace the Nintendo Switch 2.
Time Altering Story
In this timeline, a great calamity has occurred following the appearance of an unknown threat called Luna Rapacis, where Revenants have turned into horrific beings “Horrors.” This has set off a chain of events where the world has been thrown into devastation and complete ruin, and now it’s up to you to bring back the beautiful world to its former glory.
The story revolves around a Revenant Hunter and a girl named Lou who has the ability to bend space and time travel, hopefully being able to change the past. With this, the story will take place throughout many different eras in the universe, and will likely have easter eggs to God Eater and the original Code Vein.

Familiar But Improved Gameplay
On top of having yet another world filled with death and destruction, Code Vein II will also feature similar, but greatly enhanced Action-RPG combat as you fight through hordes of unsettling beasts and infected. You will harvest blood from your opponents, which you will turn into your advantage. This will likely be another challenging, but highly rewarding Action-RPG that will test the player’s capabilities in such a harsh and unforgiving world.
In addition, you will also forget alliances with allies who can be brought into battle and have a key role in the story. This will tie heavily into the combat system, as while you won’t have to rely solely on your teammates, you will still need to increase their abilities and ensure they carry their own and help during tight and dire situations.
Code Vein II will be out sometime next year for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
